FOR ScALE --- SCALING OUT:
Scaling out means closing
the position with >1 more than one SALE. The objective
being to win more than you won (last time). Remember the
last time you sold (closed OUT)? Accumulated experience is
20/20 vision to gold on the table LEFT on the table. The
longer you trade, the more you may invest or realize the
potential of your trades to appreciate in VALUE hence find
it profitable to sell in portions or even just switch to
investing and long hot baths.

Facility now available to easily journal these types of
sales / SCALES. The default is FULL position size. If you
sell less, override the "Sold x" field with smaller number
of shares sold. Submitting the Input dialog with a
partial sale will cause the trade to issue to HISTORY but
leaves your original position in the BAGS with the adjusted
share count! Easy stuffing.
TRADER RULES:
Whether you're just starting out or
a seasoned pro, all agree on the importance of trading tools
a.k.a. RULES. Not mine but yours! List them; follow them;
endure & prosper in your strategies once you find and
STICK to your ahem ..rules. V2 supports flagging a trade with
a broken rule and isolating bad behavior - Nice! Flag
rule-breaking trades from Input Dialog. SEE and
remind yourself of the and tally trades gone bad.
65 trades: 18 lost, 46 won, 0
errors. As of this writing, at least... plus I just started
flagging errors so I would say at least 2. Find the button
above trade history, press it to see list of YOUR rules and
the times you broke them listed to each rule, hence
if I had broken the rules, I would see:
TRADER ERROR LOG:
Your comments can be an invaluable tool to make
corrections and stay on cour$e. Use
Delete History button to filter trades to only those whose
P&L < 0 (you lost money). This is a new test added to
the Delete dialog that will instantly give you good
reading re: stop outs, shake downs, F.O.M.O., and your other
trade errors. Make sure you keep notes, then take notes and
follow your advice!
JIVE-STAMPS:
Making use of acronyms in
your comments is an excellent way to keep it short and
simple. Use the new Jive-Stamps too to quickly
create a robust journal that you may later harvest ideas and
correction from. Located on Input dialog behind
secret door, ten buttons hold your favorite commentary for
seeding your trades with helpful reminders of the ACTION!
Press to append your trade Comments
with repetitious jargon that you find yourself using too
often. The five buttons on top are gated OR while the five
below are gated AND. The OR buttons operate as toggle while
the AND buttons will include whatever text you like combined
together at the end of your regular trade comments. More
time saved... Configure your jive-stamps on sheet or locate
using Settings.
TIME-STAMPS:
 Version 2 includes timestamps while
V1 marked your trades only with date IN/OUT. This is helpful to
traders interested in logging their entries & exits and
seeing their bag time.
By subtracting time-in from
time-out, we get duration in the trade (Bag Time). Your
position is time-stamped (TIMEIN) automatically for you when you
input ticker. The TIMEOUT time-stamp will appear when your
position is closed (stock sold). DURATION is derived from these
two.
As mentioned, date & time
stamps are automatically calculated for you. You need only
bother if you wish to override; to do so click the Time
Stamps button found in the Input
Dialog (this feature personally valuable to me since I
don't always input my trades on time.)
(A timestamp is actually a
date-stamp and a time-stamp combined. Although, the date can
be derived from the timestamp. it is smart to keep them
separate hence IN/OUT columns log trade in/out date while
TIMEIN/TIMEOUT columns log trade in/out
"date-time-stamps")
FREEZE ROWS:
Have alot of trade HISTORY and want to focus your view? Is
your dragon's tail dragging you down? Freezing rows lets you
scroll through one part of the spreadsheet while the other
freezes in place hence the name Freeze-Rows. Press the button to turn feature ON/OFF.
Once active, scrolling document affects trade HISTORY only.
CHART ZOOM:
Enjoy ability to zoom chart to present... in opposite words,
zoom chart from the last trade further and further into history.
Focus your chart on the trading week, month or quarter depending
on the length of your dragon's tail. There's also a variable to
REVERSE slider (scroll-bar) orientation.
NOW SHOWING...
Got charts? Have you read Picasso?
You've seen Profit & Loss, how about Broker Pie:
new chart shows your power balances in pie fashion. Helpful to
see if re-balancing your cash is necessary (maybe certain broker
accounts have become over or underpowered.)
Tripping on the RULES!!? Put up a
chart to see the ones you're breaking the most. There is dialog
already but an additional reminder in chart fashion could be
fashionable. It's worth a thousand helpful words.
BROKER PORTAL:
Quick access to your broker's
portal to manage your orders... coming right up: this button
is handy link to relevant broker's website, trade desk,
computerized BUY/SELL interface for humans, what have you.
Internet URL on sheet for easy edit.
SETTINGS:
 LearnN keeps everything stored
on sheet for easy edit. You can readily find things but
there's also a dialog for convenient access. Press the
Copyright button to see relevant details plus access LearnN
Settings and find consolidated access to brokers,
rules, holidays, internet addresses, and other LearnN
variables from here.
LIVE VARIABLES:
As mentioned before, variables
are on sheet for moving things around, adjusting the number of
bags, and changing internet links. They can be found to the
right of the chart (or access from Settings). All
variables are LIVE and will immediately take effect. Make
LearnN your spreadsheet by changing fonts, colors, styles,
charts too! If you need to make serious changes, you'll need
to edit macros...
LearnN is written in BASIC
text code stored in the spreadsheet document's macros .
In LearnN's macros, you'll find constants at the top which
make changing column assignments easy. Only the sole sheet
event is trapped: Content Changed in order to
watch for change to Sold column in the BAG rows.
Dialogs (userforms) can be accessed and easily edited to
accommodate.

FOCUS / RELAX:
Focus on your past trading week or month. Version 2 lets you
Zoom to Present and see recent chart data more
clearly. The new Trader
Error Log can be helpful to isolate bad trading as
well as good! Creating a powerful trade journal that you can
learn from is easier than ever using Jive-Stamps.
Remember to revisit your Rules often and see which
ones you're breaking. Check the Time-Stamps to see
your trade entries/exits and durations. (helpful to me since
I was previously hand-logging this and a smart trader knows
that lunch time affects market conditions ;)
LearnN
is both a great start and a great finish to your trading
log. Designed to require very little input, LearnN gets a
lot done and is a great OFF-LINE journal (so you keep your
privacy!) It does everything a trading journal should do and
much much more. Advanced features are there when you need
them but are conveniently out-of-the-way.
